Last Minutes NOAH 3.7

December 2009

This document includes last minute information on NOAH System 3.7.

Note: – when installing NOAH System 3.7 you should expect the installation to take a long time! If the installation appears to be frozen, the Database Migration window may be running in the background. You can safely close this window without interrupting the installation process.

IMPORTANT:

1) If you are upgrading from an earlier NOAH version: Do NOT uninstall the NOAH System software before updating. Simply install over your current installation. If you uninstall first, your license file will be deleted and you will need to reinstall your license key in order to use the software.

2) If you are currently running NOAH System on Windows 98 or ME you must upgrade the Windows operating system before upgrading to NOAH System 3.7.

New Features

Windows support in NOAH 3.7

NOAH 3.7 supports installation on Windows 7. The list of supported operating systems are:

  • Windows XP (SP3)
  • Windows 2003 server
  • Windows Vista
  • Windows 2008 server
  • Windows 7

NOAH 3.7 supports installation on 64-bit Windows versions, but note that many Noah modules do not support 64-bit Windows. Further all NOAH 2 modules will not be able to run on 64-bit Windows. HIMSA strongly recommends using a 32-bit windows version.

 

Improvements

General:

  • Enhancement to the Client register. It is now possible to select multiple clients for export. It is also possible to select clients from a search result for export. (2137)

  • NOAH Questionnaire module has been updated to version 2.0 in NOAH System (4103)

Bug fixes:

  • Patch installation for Noah 3.7 updated. Future patches for 3.7 will be able to be included on the 3.7 distribution (4107)
  • Fixing a number of issues in Database Properties (4146) (hotfix for 3.6.1):
    • NoahDatabaseProperties fails to restore the Noah database if the destination database either is invalid or does not exist. (2775)
    • Message stating “server busy... retry” occurs when DB tools backup button is selected (4009)
    • In some cases, the NoahDatabaseScheduler.exe hangs and when that happens you cannot Log Off, Restart or Shut Down the computer. (4032)
  • Fix a problem where deleting a client when a module is open can cause data-loss (4114)
  • NHA import problem where importing results in “Client locked by another user...” (4162)
  • Client register not always reloaded after importing clients (4163)
  • Noah Server resetting SQL server recovery mode when rebooted (4053)
  • German printout missing part of the year in date field in report footer (4035)
  • Some minor translation and localization issues (4164)
  • The .net framework updated to .net 1.1 SP 1 (3900)
  • Fixed an issue where during upgrade the module icons sometimes disappears from the module selection window (4216)
  • Getting started pdf's now in the root directory on the NOAH System CDs (4081)

Software Protection Package Alert

If you are using a software protection package you may be prompted to approve different NOAH programs to run on your computer. Failure to approve will result in NOAH not running as expected. A few examples of messages that you may see will reference the following programs:

  • DBServerHostSvc.exe
  • Noahserverservice.exe

As a general rule NOAH should install on your computer with no problems. To promote an easier installation you can consider turning off your software protection package until the NOAH installation has completed and NOAH has been successfully launched.

Known open issues

To see an updated list of known issues, please visit our website and select Support > NOAH Knowledgebase > Troubleshooting.

  • In NOAHfit the help does not display when you press F1 (3707).
  • Printing the basic report when audiogram data is imported from NOAH 2 can display incorrect masking values. (3538)
  • It is possible to delete a client when a module has her/him open, and the Session Browser is closed (4224)
  • When opening eTONA help, the wrong language may be displayed if it is installed on Windows XP SP2 in one language version and Windows regional settings are set to another language. (2964)
  • When upgrading a NOAH 3.5 (or earlier) installation where more than one local database has been used, only one database will be migrated.
  • If installed on a PC where .NET 1.0 without SP3 is installed - the NOAH System installation will display a message and stop. To fix this issue .NET 1.0 SP3 must be installed manually. (3545)
  • If NOAH 3.7 is uninstalled in order to re-install NOAH 3.5.2, some manual work may be required to run NOAH 3.5.2 again. (NOTE: Contact your NOAH Support representative for further details.) (3566).
  • In NOAH Database Properties, some strings are not translated and appear in English only (3633).
  • When upgrading to NOAH 3.7 there may be double entry in Firewall Exceptions list. (4223)
  • NOAH Database Properties may appear twice under Start menu - once in English and once in the NOAH language (3896).
