NOAH 2 client data: Importing from NOAH 2 into NOAH System 3

IMPORTANT: Before exporting the NOAH 2 database, use the NOAH 2 Diagnostics utility to verify, rebuild and re-index your database. Refer to the NOAH 2 Users Manual for more information.

NOAH 2 clients with corrupted data will NOT be imported into NOAH 3.

Exporting the NOAH 2 database from NOAH 2

NOTE: If your NOAH 2 client data is in a non-NOAH 3 language: When installing NOAH System 3, choose the United Kingdom locale version.

  1. In Windows, click Start > Programs > NOAH System > NOAH 2.0 Database Export Utility.

  1. Click the Browse button at NOAH 2.0 database location and locate your NOAH 2 database. (NOTE: In most cases, the NOAH 2 database is located in C:\NOAH.)
  2. Click the Browse button at Export destination path and choose a location for your NOAH 2 database. (NOTE: Remember this location as you will need it when you later import the file.)
  3. If you wish, you can change the Export name. (NOTE: You may wish to do this if you are exporting more than one NOAH 2 database to the same folder.)
  4. Click on the Options button. In the Country version of export field:
    • If your NOAH 2 data is in a non-NOAH 3 language: Choose the language of the client data in your NOAH 2 database.
    • Otherwise: Select the same country as that selected when NOAH 3 was installed.

  1. To export a subset of your NOAH 2 clients, click Select clients to export. To omit clients without sessions, check Do not include clients without sessions in the export.
  2. Click OK and then click the Export button.
  3. If you are exporting a subset of your clients, the Select clients to export dialog appears. To select a few clients, hold down the Ctrl key and click the records you require. To select most clients, press Ctrl A, then hold down the Ctrl key and click the records you wish to exclude. Click OK.

Importing the NOAH 2 database into NOAH System 3

  1. Open NOAH System. In the Client Register, click on File > Client Import. The Import Clients window opens.
  2. Click Next.
  3. In the Type of Data to Import window, select NOAH data (native NOAH 3 and 2 export format). Click Next.
  4. Locate the NOAH 2 export file (from step 3 in the Exporting section above). Click Open.
  5. If some of the users who created the NOAH 2 records are not present in the NOAH 3 database, you will receive a message listing these users. Click Add Users to add these users to the database. Click Next.
  6. Click Finish. The import begins.
  7. When all clients have been successfully imported, click OK.
  8. Run the compact utility on your NOAH 3 database. Refer to Compacting the database under Related Links to the right of this page.
