Upgrading to NOAH System 3.6

IMPORTANT:
Before installing NOAH System 3.6, please click on the Preparing for NOAH System link under Related Links on the right side of this page. This will help you avoid installation issues during your software installation.

IMPORTANT:
If you plan on using a Microsoft SQL Server for your NOAH System database, please refer to the page Using a Microsoft SQL Server before you continue with the installation.

You must upgrade the NOAH Server version first, and then upgrade the NOAH Client computers. Upgrading to version 3.6 could take more than 30 minutes for the NOAH Server installation.

Upgrade the Server installation

Place the NOAH CD in your CD drive on the NOAH Server PC. If the installation program does not start within 30 seconds, use Windows Explorer to browse the CD, then click on the file setup.exe
The NOAH Upgrader will detect that you have an existing NOAH Server installation on the PC. Select Yes to upgrade your installation.
Next, the NOAH installation will need to uninstall the older version, Click OK.
After the components have uninstalled the installation will request a reboot of the PC. Please click Finish and reboot.
After the reboot the installation will continue.
The NOAH 3.6 installation will migrate the existing database to SQL Server 2005 Express. The migration wizard will come up as part of the installation, Click Next:
The next screen shows the default choices of overwriting the existing database with this migration and compacting the old database before migrating. Leave these defaults and click Next:
The final migration wizard screen includes options.kjls. To migrate to the included SQL Server Express 2005 database click Next.
Finally, the migration will complete. Click Finish and the NOAH 3.6 installation will continue.
You will be asked to reboot your PC to complete the NOAH installation.

** NOTE: When upgrading from an older version of NOAH to NOAH 3.6 or later:

Right-click on the folder containing your OLD database (for typical installations, C:\Program Files\HIMSA\NOAH System\Database.
Select Sharing and Security.
In the Sharing tab, select Do not share this folder. Click OK.

Upgrade the Client installation

The NOAH Upgrader will detect that you have an existing NOAH Client installation on the PC. Select Yes to upgrade your installation.
Next, the NOAH installation will need to uninstall the older version, Click OK.
