Norton Internet Security 2007

Norton Internet Security 2007 includes a Personal Firewall feature. This firewall blocks the protocol that is needed for NOAH to be able to communicate across a network. If you are using Norton Internet Security 2007 software in your NOAH network, you may receive the message: “Office server could not set or initialize current user/client.”

Please follow the below instructions to configure the firewall to allow NOAH to communicate.

Solution
  1. Launch Norton Internet Security 2007 on the NOAH Server computer.
  2. Select the Tab, Norton Internet Security.
  3. Select Settings, Personal Firewall, Configure.
  4. Under General Settings, Firewall Processing, select “Ask me what to do”. Click Apply.

By selecting “Ask me what to do”, the program will ask about NOAH process it wants to block and give an opportunity to Allow. For example:

  13. Move the NOAH Client machine and follow steps 1-8 outlined above, then close Norton.
  14. Launch NOAH on Server and Client to verify connectivity.
  15. If problems persist, launch Norton and under Reports and Statistics, open View Activity Logand Firewall Activities to view blocked processes.
