Description
I delete a session containing an audiogram. However, all of the actions related to that audiogram - for example, fittings - which do not have audiograms attached, and which were created after the date of the session, are also deleted.
Solution
NOAH System is designed to behave in just this manner. The reason is that there are two situations in which one or more fitting actions might be created and later discarded. They are:
- when a hearing aid is checked in before or after repair
- during a hearing aid demonstration
In the first case, a medical record is unnecessary.
In the second case, if the prospective client decides not to purchase a hearing aid, no client record is created.
In both cases, an audiogram is prepared for the purpose of a fitting and later removed as no longer required. Therefore, the record will be incomplete since the fitting will have no associated measurement of the patient's hearing. A complete record should include ALL patient-provider transactions, regardless of whether they are replaced or updated in the future.
The following procedure is recommended when dealing with client records:
- Do not remove any data that you have collected from an actual patient.
- If you wish to perform a trial or 'Demo' fitting, first create a NOAH client called 'Demonstration'. Then create audiograms and fittings, as required. You can safely delete these 'clients' at a later date without accidentally confusing them with your other patients.
