NOAH System 3.7 Installation fails on Windows XP Service Pack 2 computer resulting in continuous reboot

NOAH System 3.7 requires XP Service Pack 3.  If installing NOAH System 3.7 on Windows XP SP2 the machine can run into a loop of starting up and shutting down during the prerequisite installation or can come up with a blue screen.

In rare cases conflicts have been reported with Microsoft SQL 2005 Express SP3 and Windows XP SP2, this is a problem caused by Microsoft software. In the middle of the NOAH System 3.7 installation or after the reboot, the machine runs into a loop of starting up and shutting down. When powering down and restarting the machine comes up with a blue screen.

Solution

If presented with the reboot loop or blue screen, use the procedure below to solve the problem:

  1. If you are able to launch Windows normally run Windows Updates and install Service Pack 3 for Windows XP. The update to XP SP3 may take as long as 30 minutes.
  2. If you are not able to log into Windows normally restart your computer and start pressing the F8 key on your keyboard. From the options below choose “Last known good configuration”.

  3. Once logged into Windows you can run Windows Updates and install Service Pack 3 for Windows XP.
  4. Once the Service Pack has been applied you can restart the installation of NOAH System 3.7.
