|
Description
This error occurs on an upgrade to NOAH 3.6.1. An install shield issue causes a remnant of an earlier NOAH to not be removed completely - thus, NOAH 3.6.1 upgrade detects an earlier NOAH on the computer. The following occurs: - Pre-Requisites install successfully
- Uninstall of existing NOAH completes
- NOAH server installation starts, then the following message appears: NOAH Upgrade Failed
Solution Step 1: Verification First, verify that the provided solution will work by reviewing the HIMSA Install.log file located at C:\Program Files\Common Files\HIMSA Shared. The bolded text below should appear at the very end of the log file, and indicates that the installation still finds an old NOAH Server installed: 08:20:21 Installing NOAH Server... 08:20:21 NOAH Server installation found on the computer 08:20:21 Installation older than 3.5.2 SE 08:20:21 You have an old version of NOAH System Server** installed, if you want to upgrade to NOAH System Server you must uninstall NOAH System first. Upgrade of server failed, aborting |
**The text may list Non-networked, Client or Server, depending on the type of installation previously installed.
Step 2: Registry key Deletion Warning: Do not run the Fix Utility or follow the manual steps on a working installation of NOAH. Doing so will disable the uninstall feature of NOAH from Add/Remove programs. HIMSA has made available a Fix Utility to resolve this issue on Windows XP, Windows 2003 or newer. (NOTE: If your operating system is Windows 2000, please follow the Manual Steps below.)
HIMSA's Batch file will automate the task of removing the necessary registry keys. Perform the following steps (NOTE: If you are running Vista, right-click on the batch file and select 'Run as Administrator' - otherwise, the file will not work.): - Download the Fix Utility (see the link in the right-hand column).
- Double click on HIMSA_Fix_Utility.exe.
- Click on Unzip.
- The batch file will be unzipped and executed.
