NOAH and 64-bit Windows Operating Systems

The NOAH System 3.6 installation is not compatible with 64-bit operating systems. For more than two years Windows XP has been available with a 64-bit option but its use in the hearing healthcare marketplace has been rare.

Some retailers are pushing Windows Vista with a 64-bit operating system to support and take full advantage of higher end PC’s. These higher end computers have 64-bit processors, and RAM configurations greater than the standard 4 GB available with 32-bit editions.

WARNING: Please be aware that NOAH System will not install or run on a 64 bit operating system.

On Windows Vista the operating system can quickly be determined by choosing Computer on the Start menu and then clicking on System Properties.

Error:
When installing NOAH 3.6 on a Vista computer with a 64-bit OS you will see:
“Failed to install pre-requisite software …”

If you try to get around this error and install the SQL server manually from the NOAH installation CD you will receive the error:

“SQL Server 2005 Setup cannot continue … you are running a 32-bit only Setup program on a 64-bit computer …”

For more information on the 64-bit editions of Windows Vista please visit the Microsoft website.
