The Hearing Instrument Manufacturers’ Software Association (HIMSA) was founded at the beginning of 1993 with the objective of developing, marketing and supporting Noah – one standard for integrated hearing care software.
HIMSA is a privately owned company, but it operates much like a consortium – all suppliers within the hearing care industry who are HIMSA members have a significant say in the running of HIMSA and in how the standard evolves.
Today, over 100 companies support the Noah software standard and have released Noah-compatible software. Most of these are hearing instrument manufacturers, representing a market share of approximately 90 percent.
HIMSA is based in Copenhagen Denmark. HIMSA’s largest market is served by its U.S. subsidiary in Minneapolis, USA.
Noah is installed on an estimated 50,000 PCs in North America as of January 2023, and over 90 percent of dispensing locations in North America use Noah. Noah is also available in localized versions for over 25 markets. As of January 2023, Noah is installed on an estimated 130,000 PCs in over 150 countries.
In October 2016, HIMSA released Noahlink Wireless, an interface which provides completely wireless programming between your computer and Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) enabled hearing instruments. As of January 2023, over 100000 Noahlink Wireless units have been sold.
And in January 2023, HIMSA released Noah ES (Extended Services), a cloud-enabled version of Noah. Noah ES is a flexible, low-maintenance, subscription-based solution, allowing secure access to your patient data – anytime, anywhere.
