HIMSA receives many questions from our customers concerning how to and how not to use their Noah 4 license. In this article we answer some of the more common questions asked by Noah users.
Q: What is the Noah license policy?
A: When you purchase a copy of Noah you may:
- Install that copy of Noah at one and only one location. If you own or operate multiple offices, you must purchase a separate copy of Noah for each office.
- Install that copy of Noah on any number of computers at that one office location.
- Not give or sell that copy of Noah to someone else unless you first delete it from all your own computers. Additionally, you should notify HIMSA of the change of ownership.
Q: Do I need a new Noah license for my new office computer?
A: If you are using a Noah 4 site license, it is good for all Noah PCs at your office location!
So whenever you need to purchase a new Noah PC for use at your office location, you are welcome to install and use your Noah site license on this PC as well.
However, if you have multiple offices, each office will need their own Noah site license.
Q: Do I need to download my Noah license each time I get a new PC?
A: No you don’t!
We suggest that you copy your Noah License.exe file over to a USB drive. Then store the USB drive in a secure place, such as an office safe. That way, you will have it ready whenever you need to install a new Noah license.
Q: Can I use the Noah site license on my laptop while I am out of the office?
A: Many hearing care professionals spend time on the road, on home visits or at satellite shops.
As a rule of thumb, if an audiologist is based at your office but performs home visits 1-2 time a week, they are welcome to use the office’s Noah site license. However, in situations where one or more professionals work predominately out of the office, a separate Noah license will be necessary.
Hearing care professionals are also welcome to use the office’s site license while working at home to provide remote services to patients that are customers of the office.
Q: How do I license my Noah if I have multiple offices connecting to a central Noah server in the main office?
A: Each satellite or remote office in a Noah 4 wide area network (WAN) needs its own unique Noah 4 license. The licenses will be registered to each remote office and installed on the local computers. In a hospital or clinic setting where the Noah server may not be in the audiology department but housed with other servers, the server location does not need its own license.
For more information on using a Noah license on a WAN, refer to the HIMSA WAN Support Statement.
Q: If I purchase a practice, can I continue to use their Noah site license?
A: Yes, if it’s negotiated in the purchase. However, you will need to ask the original license owner to contact us and verify that the Noah license has been transferred to you. For more information, click here.
If the license is not negotiated in the purchase, you can contact one of these HIMSA distributors to purchase a new Noah 4 license.
