NoahCfgDatabase.sdf is not configured correctly when Restoring a database from another computer or from an older version of Noah 4

After using Restore to bring in a Noah 4 database from another computer you are presented with a blank screen when launching Noah 4:

Solution

The database that holds configuration settings for Noah 4 has been improperly restored. To resolve the issue you can rename the NoahCfgDatabase.sdf file to NoahCfgDatabase.old to create a new file. Preference settings like module order and customized fields will need to be reset:

  1. Navigate to Services and stop both the Noah Server and Noah Client services, then minimize the Services window.
  2. Navigate to the NoahCfgDatabase.sdf file located at Program Files/Common Files/HIMSA Shared and rename the file to NoahCfgDatabase.old
  3. Restart the Noah Server and then the Noah Client services.
  4. Launch Noah.

Or if you wish to retain the preference settings in the configuration file you can manually move the NoahCfgDatabase.sdf from the backup files:

  1. Navigate to Services and stop both the Noah Server and Noah Client services, then minimize the Services window.
  2. Navigate to the NoahCfgDatabase.sdf file located at Program Files/Common Files/HIMSA Shared and rename the file to NoahCfgDatabase.old
  3. Copy the NoahCfgDatabase.sdf from the backup files to Program Files/Common Files/HIMSA Shared
  4. Restart the Noah Server and then the Noah Client services.
  5. Launch Noah.

This issue will be addressed in the next release of Noah 4
