When choosing a Noah PC, the most important question you can ask is “which Noah fitting and measurement modules will I use on this computer?”

Noah System 4 software can be run on PCs with fairly low specifications. However, Noah cannot be used alone. New Noah fitting and measurement modules have different and often higher PC requirements than Noah.

Using only the latest Noah modules?

Will you use your PC to only fit newer instruments using newer Noah fitting modules?

Newer Noah modules often need more powerful PCs in order to run satisfactorily. These Noah modules as a rule are certified for Windows 10.

HIMSA recommends you view our certified module list for Windows 10. If all the Noah modules on the PC will be Windows 10 compatible, then a new Windows 10 PC may be the best choice.

Also, check with your module suppliers. Some newer Noah modules may have special PC requirements in order to operate satisfactorily.

Using older measurement equipment?

If you are using measurement equipment that is several years old, it may not run on Windows 10 or with a 64-bit operating system.

HIMSA recommends that you contact your measurement equipment provider before choosing your PC. You may still be able to run your measurement equipment on a Windows 7 32-bit PC, or they may be able to provide an updated device driver for Windows 10 or 64-bit.

If your equipment cannot run on Windows 7, 8 or 10, it may also be time to consider an investment in new measurement equipment for your office.

Using older fitting modules?

Will you use your PC to support customers with older hearing instruments?

Noah fitting modules for older instruments may not run on PCs with Windows 10 or with a 64-bit operating system.

HIMSA recommends you view our certified module list for Windows 10. If some of the Noah modules that will be used on the PC are not Windows 10 or 64-bit compatible, then you should consider other options.

For example, many offices will have a separate Noah PC for use only with older Noah fitting modules. This PC will typically run a previous Windows version such as Windows 7 and have a 32-bit operating system.

New Minimum Requirements Announced

HIMSA has updated its PC minimum requirements to be more in line with newer Noah modules. The goal is to help Noah users choose a computer that is powerful enough to run the Noah modules they need.

The main changes are faster PC processor specs and additional RAM memory requirements.

In the future, as new technology and Noah modules are introduced, HIMSA will continue to periodically evaluate our minimum requirements and revise them as necessary.

However, the new Noah minimum requirements are no guarantee. To be on the safe side, it is always best to check with each one of your suppliers for their Noah module minimum requirements before choosing a new office PC.
