You may have read on our website that for security reasons, Noah ES and Noah System users should ALWAYS use a supported Noah version, and HIMSA recommends that you ALWAYS be updated to the latest version.

We really do mean it.

Keeping up to date is vital for data security. Remaining on older Noah versions will not only make you vulnerable to potential exploits, it will also impede and delay recovery if disaster strikes.

However, there are many other advantages to upgrading as well.

Supported versions of Noah also support the latest Windows versions and technologies, as well as the latest fitting modules from our member companies. Keeping up to date also reduces the potential for disruption caused by unsupported Noah software, Noah modules and Microsoft databases. And new Noah updates often include new useful features based on industry feedback.

Keeping up to date is easier than you think

In reality, it is much easier to keep your software up to date rather than waiting. In fact, it is very similar to updating your fitting modules. Most Noah updates can be completed in under 15 minutes, and going forward, there will only be 1 to 2 releases in a year.

IMPORTANT: If you use a Noah compatible business system, make sure to contact your provider before upgrading.

How many professionals are using unsupported software?

As of November 2025, HIMSA’s estimates that over 30 percent of Noah users have upgraded to a supported version of Noah (4.16 or higher). We would like to thank these hearing care professionals for using the time to maintain their Noah software.

However, there is still a long way to go. Nearly 70 percent of Noah users run unsupported Noah software versions. This number includes users of Noah version 4.15, which is no longer supported as of November 1st 2025.

And effective January 1st 2026, Noah ES will require the use of the Noah ES Client version 4.117.

Which Noah version are you running?

To see which Noah version you are currently running, open Noah and choose About Noah from the Help menu.

If you are running Noah version 4.9 or later on a Windows 10 or 11 PC, then your upgrade should be relatively easy using the latest Noah download from the HIMSA website.

You would first need to upgrade to Noah 4.14, and then upgrade to the latest version, Noah 4.117. We recommend that you put aside two hours to allow Noah to migrate to the new SQLite database.

Still using Noah 4.8 or earlier?

For older unsupported Noah versions, you will need to update Noah in several steps.

For more information on the best upgrade path for your Noah version, see our website page: Upgrade Path for Unsupported Noah System Versions.

Or follow the procedure provided during the Noah download process.

This will take some time to complete. However, once you are on the latest Noah version, it will be much easier to stay current for the future.

How about an upgrade to Noah ES?

While you are at it, why not make the upgrade to our cloud-based version of Noah, Noah ES as well?

With Noah ES, Noah Services reside and are maintained in the cloud, including database backup, maintenance, security monitoring and user authentication. This means less maintenance and easier upgrades for you, as well as easy access to your patient data from home and on the road. For more information on the benefits of Noah ES, click here.
