NOTE: Your NOAHlink must be connected before you can use the Diagnostic, Advanced Settings, Performance and parts of the Settings tabs. You must configure the Connect and Settings tabs but you need only configure the remaining tabs if you wish to address more specialized issues.

1. Open the NOAHlink Properties window – Click Start > Programs > NOAHlink > NOAHlink Properties.

2. To change the NOAHlink Properties language, go to Step 4.

3. Configure the Connect tab:


The Connect tab displays each NOAHlink with its user-defined name, serial number and connections status. The last NOAHlink connected to your PC is highlighted. The connection status can be:

  • In range – Located but actual status unknown
  • Available – Located but not connected to
  • Connected – Located and connected to
  • Connected by another program – Located and connected to another program on this PC
  • In use – Located and connected to another PC
  • Known – Not located, but the last NOAHlink connected to your PC

  • To connect to a NOAHlink, highlight the unit, then click Connect.
  • To disconnect from NOAHlink, click Disconnect.
  • To search for other NOAHlinks, click Search.
  • To rename a NOAHlink, highlight the unit of your choice, then click Rename. Enter the name. Press Return on completion.

4. Configure the Settings tab:

NOTE: If you do not set the correct battery type, the battery-warning settings will be incorrect. Thus, you may receive a warning when the battery is working correctly, or receive no warning when the battery is low.

  • To set the battery type, you must first be connected to a NOAHlink. Click the pull-down menu at NOAHlink Battery type.
  • To set a ‘battery low’ warning, click Play SoundShow message box or both. Click Browse to choose a sound. Click the pull-down menu at Reminder in to set the time length before a reminder is activated.
  • To set the language, click Follow NOAH,or Select your preference.
  • To access the Advanced tabs (Diagnostic, Advanced Settings, PerformanceVersionsLog), click Advanced.

5. Configure the Diagnostic tab:

The Event log is listed as OK or Error.

  • To list any errors in NOAHlink and Bluetooth tests, click Details.

6. Configure the Advanced Settings tab:

The NOAHlink battery status is listed as OK or Low.

  • NOAHlink power off time: Select the length of idle time before NOAHlink turns off OR Select Off for it to remain on indefinitely.
  • HI power status:
    • Select On to turn on hearing instruments automatically when NOAHlink powers on.
    • Select Off for hearing instruments to be turned on through the fitting module.
  • Power on when leaving cradle: Select On for a previously powered on NOAHlink to power on automatically when removed from its cradle.
  • Driver: To change the driver, click Change. Select the driver after browsing for its location. Click OK.
  • COM Port Settings: (NOTE – Only select new values if your system CANNOT locate NOAHlink.) Use the pull-down menus at COM Port low and COM Port high to select new values.

7. Running a NOAHlink Performance test:

NOTE: Use this tab if your PC is running slowly or cannot retain a connection to NOAHlink. This tab tests data transfer rates from the PC to NOAHlink.

Click Start Programs NOAHlink NOAHlink Properties. Open the Settings tab. Click Advanced. Open the Performance tab.

  • To begin the speed test, click Start. Each time you press Start, the window is reset.
  • Click Stop when the MinMax and Average fields remain unchanged. The test stops automatically if you leave the Performance tab.
  • If the Average figure (listing the average transfer rate of data from your PC to NOAHlink) is very low (under 100), you may wish to try one of the following:
    • Try an extension cable from the computer to the adapter. Some Bluetooth adapters include this cable – if not, be sure to purchase a quality, insulated cable.
    • Change the location of the adapter. If it is placed directly on the computer, too much noise may influence the signal.
  • If the transfer rates are 0, the Bluetooth adapter may be defective.

8. Configure the Versions tab:

NOTE: The Versions tab allows you to upgrade to a newer kernel.

  • Click Start Programs NOAHlink NOAHlink Properties. Open the Settings tab. Click Advanced. Open the Versions tab.
  • Click Upgrade Kernel to open the Kernel Upgrade window.
  • Use the pull-down menu to select a new kernel.
  • Click Download kernel.

9. Configure the Log tab:

  • To change the current location of the log file, click Browse to find a new location or type a new file location in the Current location window.
  • To view entries in the log, click View.
  • To delete all entries in the log, click Clear.
  • To set the log level, click the pull-down menu at Log level and select:
    • None: No entries recorded
    • Basic: Errors, load operations, loging procedures recorded
    • Medium: Basic entries, methods called in driver and some diagnostic information recorded
    • Detailed: Medium entries and all other functions recorded
  • To set the amount of log disk space, click the pull-down menu at Amount of disk space to use. Select from the range (100Kb – 5 Mb).
